Odds on Scotland to win Euro 2024

What are the odds for Scotland to make the Euro 2024 quarter-finals?

The European Championships are just around the corner and Scotland will be hoping to fight their way through the knockouts. But what are the odds for Scotland to make the quarter-finals of Euro 2024?

Did you know that Scotland is the joint-oldest team in the world? The first international football match in history was played in 1872 between Scotland and England, which is why they also have the longest rivalry in the game. Scotland and England have played each other over 125 times since that day in 1872.

However, if the Tartan Army want to face off against the Three Lions in Germany, they are going to have to make it out of their group first. There’s just one problem with that – Scotland have never made it out of the Group Stage of a major tournament. They have played in eight World Cups and three European Championships before this summer but are yet to experience the knockout stages.

What are the chances for Scotland to win Euro 2024?

With a world ranking of just 39th, Scotland are one of the lowest-ranked teams to qualify for the 2024 European Championships. That being said, they do have a real chance of getting out of their group for the first time ever. The Scots have been placed alongside hosts Germany, Hungary and Switzerland in Group A and will actually kick the tournament off with their opening match against the Germans. Hungary and Switzerland are only ranked 26th and 19th in the world respectively, while even Germany are only said to be the 16th best team in the world. That leaves more than a little wiggle room for Scotland to cause a few upsets this summer.

Unfortunately, Scotland come into Euro 2024 in about as bad form as you can get. The last time they won a game was September 2023 with a 3-0 win over Cyprus, but the Tartan Army have lost five and drawn two since then. To be fair to Scotland, they have tested themselves against some of the best teams in the world during this run, including defeats to England, France, Spain, and the Netherlands. They likely won’t cup up against that level of opposition until the knockouts in Germany, if they make it that far.

Although he has endured a difficult season at Liverpool, the star of the current Scotland team has to go down as Andrew Robertson, who remains one of the best left-backs in the world. Manchester United’s Scott McTominay has also proved an important figure for the Scots over the past year, scoring more than a few goals from midfield. Aston Villa’s John McGinn comes into Euro 2024 off the back of an incredible Premier League season in which he and his teammates secured Champions League qualification. Scotland have more than enough seasoned Premier League professionals to give anyone in their group a good game this summer.

Scotland currently have odds of 1.75 to qualify from Group A, 4.00 to make the quarter-finals, 12.00 to reach the semi-finals and 100.00 to go all the way and win Euro 2024 outright.
