Odds on Netherlands to win Euro 2024

What are the odds for the Netherlands to win Euro 2024?

The European Championships are just around the corner and the Netherlands will be hoping to be dark horses to win the tournament. But what are the odds for Netherlands to win Euro 2024?

The Netherlands have to go down as dark horses for Euro 2024, but it would be foolish to rule them out altogether. With superstars like Virgil van Dijk on your team, anything is possible in tournament football. Founded in 1905, the Netherlands are often referred to as the greatest national side to never win the World Cup.

The Oranje have appeared in 11 World Cups in total, making the final on three occasions, and have fielded some of the most iconic footballers in the history of the sport, but still don’t have a star on their jersey.

Fortunately, they have a better European Championship pedigree, winning the 1988 tournament in West Germany. The Netherlands have long-standing rivalries with both Belgium and Germany, so it could be a hostile atmosphere for those playing in orange this summer. But with odds of 17.50, are they worth a punt?

What are the chances for the Netherlands to win Euro 2024?

The Netherlands come into Euro 2024 in pretty good form, but there remains a question mark over their ability to compete with the teams at the very top of the game. A 4-0 win over Scotland and a 6-0 victory over Gibraltar are all well and good, but the Netherlands have lost their last two ‘big’ matches 2-1 against Germany and France. If they want to go all the way this summer, they are going to have to find a way to turn those narrow defeats into narrow victories. And they won’t have to wait long to test themselves against one of the favourites to win the entire tournament.

The Netherlands have been placed into Group D alongside France, Poland and Austria. While France will certainly be favourites to finish top of the group, it is perhaps the most evenly-matched set of four teams in the entire tournament. Austria and Poland are both more than capable of causing an upset in Group D, although the Netherlands really should be finishing in the second qualification spot. After all, they are ranked as the seventh-best team in the world. That’s higher than Spain, Italy and Croatia!

Holland have one of the best rosters of central defenders on the planet at the moment, rivalling even the likes of France. Virgil van Dijk has long since cemented himself as the best centre-half in the game, but he lines up alongside the likes of Nathan Ake, Matthijs de Ligt, Stefan de Vrij, Sven Botman, and Micky Van de Ven, to name just a few. In midfield, the Dutch boast a similarly embarrassing array of talent, including Frenkie de Jong, Teun Koopmeiners, and Ryan Gravenberch. Memphis Depay, Donyell Malen, and Steven Bergwijn will also give Euro 2024 defences plenty to think about in the final third.

At 17.50 odds, and with the kind of starting XI they can put out, the Netherlands look really good value as a dark horse this summer.
