Odds on Italy to win Euro 2024

What are the odds for Italy to win Euro 2024?

The European Championships are just around the corner and Italy will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins in the tournament. But what are the odds for Italy to win Euro 2024?

Italy arrive in Germany looking to make it back-to-back European Championship wins after their triumph over England in the 2020 final. Founded in 1910, Italy are one of the most famous and historic footballing nations in the world. They have won four World Cups and two European Championships, while also appearing in an additional four major finals. However, it has been an up-and-down time for the Azzurri of late.

Although they lifted the Euro 2020 trophy, they failed to qualify for the two World Cups on either side of the tournament. That means Italy have not been seen at a World Cup since 2014! Even more peculiarly, they went unbeaten between October 2018 and October 2021 and have the world record for the most consecutive matches without a single loss (37). With odds of 15.00, can Italy make it two Euros wins on the bounce?

What are the chances for Italy to win Euro 2024?

Despite winning the last iteration of the Euros, Italy are still only ranked ninth in the world, behind the likes of England, France, Belgium, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Spain. Not qualifying for back-to-back World Cups has certainly dented their world ranking, but it would be foolish to discount the Azzurri heading into Germany this summer. After all, that run of 37 unbeaten games was only a few years ago and the Italians seem to peak during European Championship tournaments.

However, Italy will have to contend with the Group of Death if they are to even qualify for the knockouts of the tournament this summer. Group B consists of Italy, Spain, Croatia and Albania, three of whom will certainly fancy their chances of topping the table. Spain are ranked one place higher than Italy in the world rankings, while Croatia are just one behind, showing how closely matched Group B will be this summer.

Italy come into the tournament off the back of three wins and a draw, although they did lose 3-1 to England in a European Championship qualifying match back in October 2023. The important thing to remember about Italy is that they weren’t exactly favourites to win Euro 2020 either. Roberto Mancini’s side were somewhat of a surprise package on the way to their famous Wembley win.

With 17.50 odds to do it again this summer, Italy are certainly outsiders but it’s rare you get such good odds for a defending champion.
