Odds on Georgia to win Euro 2024

What are the odds for Georgia to make the Euro 2024 knockouts?

The European Championships are just around the corner and Georgia will be hoping to fight their way out of Group F. But what are the odds for Georgia to make the knockouts of Euro 2024?

Georgia actually played their first official international match back in 1990 when they were still a part of the Soviet Union. Georgia succeeded the Soviet Union in 1991 and registered with UEFA and FIFA just one year later. Since Euro 96, they have unsuccessfully attempted to qualify for every single major tournament. That means The 2024 European Championships are going to be a historic event for the country of Georgia no matter what happens.

They are guaranteed to play their first major tournament match and will be hoping to score their first goals too as they battle their way through Group F. But how far can Georgia actually go in Germany this summer? They currently have odds of 2.25 to make it beyond the group stages. What are the chances for Georgia to win Euro 2024?

Georgia have been placed into Group F for the European Championships and they face a tough task to make it into the knockout rounds. This is their first-ever major tournament, so the Georgians will at least be able to celebrate no matter what happens. Let’s hope they at least get a goal or two along the way! Georgia will come up against Portugal, Czechia and Turkey at Euro 2024 this summer, which is a rather daunting array of opponents. Georgia are ranked as the 75th-best team in the world, and the lowest-ranked team in the competition. Portugal are the sixth-best team in the world, followed by Czechia in 36th and Turkey in 40th. Four teams will qualify as the best third-placed finishers, so perhaps Georgia’s most likely route out of the group is getting a win under their belt against Turkey or Czechia.

Georgia come into Euro 2024 with some mixed form. The lowest-ranked team in the competition had to fight their way through the play-offs to earn their place in Germany this summer. That means that they have recent wins over Luxembourg and Greece (on penalties) coming into their debut major tournament appearance. They also recorded 8-0 and 4-0 wins over Thailand and Cyprus respectively during qualifying. However, it must be said that Spain put seven goals past Georgia back in September 2023, making their fixture against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal feel a little ominous.

Although they are ranked 75 in the world, Georgia have a sprinkling of star talent in their squad at the moment. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been a revelation since joining Napoli and won the Serie A title last year in Italy. At the other end of the pitch, Giorgi Mamardashvilli is a very highly-rated goalkeeper for Valencia in La Liga, although he has to compete with Dynamo Tbilisi’s Giorgi Loria in the national team. Beyond that, Georgia have players who represent Torino, Shakhtar Donetsk, Watford, and Metz, so they have more than enough talent to cause some problems at Euro 2024.

Georgia currently have odds of 2.25 to qualify from Group F, 12.00 to make the quarter-finals, 40.00 to reach the semi-finals and 500.00 to go all the way and win Euro 2024 outright.
